Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Micky Gutz (ranked 2630 p4p, 2221 weight class) and Smash Adams (ranked 308 p4p, 265 weight class). The key to victory for Micky Gutz has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gutz misses with a looping right.

Adams shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gutz's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Adams throws a strike but Gutz rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Adams is pulling down on Gutz's head. It's preventing any offense from Gutz, at least for the moment.

Gutz definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Adams bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gutz's guard.

Gutz looking to hit a scissor sweep but Adams is one step ahead there.

Adams content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Adams working his ground and pound in the gym.

Gutz wants to stand but Adams is controlling the position.
Adams is in close to Gutz's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Adams drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Adams jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Gutz is trying to control the position but Adams postures up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Adams accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Adams has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Gutz loads up on a big right hand but Adams slips the punch.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Gutz, as that shot connected.
Gutz misses with an uppercut.
Gutz cracks Adams with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

It looks like Smash Adams has been cut.

Gutz cracks Adams with a good jab.

Adams shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Gutz napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Gutz is not content to let Adams control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The ground and pound from Adams seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Adams is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Gutz has escaped the position, nice work there.
Adams wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gutz keeps working.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Adams controlling from side mount.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Smash Adams will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Smash Adams's cut.
That's time! Gutz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Gutz keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Good shot there by Gutz.
Adams keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Gutz.
Gutz lands with an uppercut that bounces Adams off the cage and back into range.
Gutz throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Adams sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Adams takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
A big left from Gutz misses.
Gutz stuffs the takedown.
It looked like Gutz wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Gutz cracks Adams with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Adams moves out of range as Gutz strikes.
Micky Gutz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Adams on the wrong end of a nice jab.

That has opened up Smash Adams's cut even more.

Gutz feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Adams sprawling to the canvas! Adams rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Gutz finish him?!

Adams is rocked!

The cut above Smash Adams's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Adams is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. Gutz doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! Adams crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in Adams's bad books for that mishap!
