The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nuevos throws a body kick that misses.
Nuevos throws a lazy right hand but Ray sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ray blocks a jab.
Nuevos ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ray moves away.
Nuevos takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

It looks like Ignacio Nuevos has been cut.

It looked like Ray was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Nuevos is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Ray rather than just go for the knockout.

Nuevos closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Ray did well to prevent Nuevos getting side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Nuevos's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Ray connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Nuevos scrambles back to his feet.
Ray cracks Nuevos with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Nuevos fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ray looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Nuevos moves out of range as Ray strikes.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Nuevos! But no joy.
Ray jabbing away but nothing is landing.

The cut above Ignacio Nuevos's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Ray drops Nuevos with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Nuevos! Ray dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
