Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Umut Maltepe (ranked 4190 p4p, 4048 weight class) and Reece Macdonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maltepe closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Macdonald throws a head punch that misses.
Maltepe blocks a body shot from Macdonald.

Maltepe pulls Macdonald into guard.

Maltepe is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Macdonald defends well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Maltepe escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Macdonald gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Macdonald wanted to stand there but Maltepe had control of the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maltepe throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Macdonald scores with a jab. Maltepe acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Macdonald might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Maltepe haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Maltepe decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Macdonald misses with a wild body shot.
Maltepe throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Macdonald's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Maltepe dives in looking to finish as Macdonald flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Maltepe's strikes! Maltepe is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Macdonald's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Macdonald was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
