Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Cornelius Wexler (ranked 4203 p4p, 4202 weight class) and Issam Nassiri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cornelius Wexler! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Issam Nassiri! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Chris Saunders and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wexler tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nassiri sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Wexler somewhat. Wexler drives through and clinches with Nassiri against the cage.
Wexler gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Nassiri regains guard.
Nassiri looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Wexler engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Nassiri throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nassiri tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Nassiri is looking to clinch. Nassiri tries to clinch but Wexler is having none of it. Nassiri throws a head kick that misses. Nassiri fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Nassiri changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wexler tries to avoid it but Nassiri manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wexler to the ground. Wexler escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Nassiri ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Wexler moves away. Wexler is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Nassiri. Wexler looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Nassiri is fending him off so far but Wexler persists. Nope, Nassiri circles away and we're back to standing. Nassiri scores with a head kick. Wexler tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Nassiri tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Nassiri misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Cornelius Wexler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Issam Nassiri. Horrible takedown attempt by Wexler or perhaps it was just good defense by Nassiri, which made it look bad.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nassiri tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Nassiri ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Wexler moves away. Nassiri tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wexler swats him away and circles back towards the center. Wexler feinted with a counter takedown. Nassiri tries for a takedown but Wexler sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Nassiri fails to land the takedown. Wexler throws the kick towards the body but Nassiri avoids it. And Nassiri tries to counter it with a takedown but Wexler pushes his down on his head and steps out. Nassiri tries to keep at a distance but Wexler has taken the fight into the clinch. Wexler really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Nassiri tries to pull guard but Wexler won't allow it.
Nassiri throws a head punch that misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nassiri tries to break free but Wexler pushes him back against the cage. Wexler manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Nassiri wanted to stand there but Wexler had control of the position. Wexler working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nassiri doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nassiri manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Wexler is looking for a triangle but Nassiri pushes his legs off easily.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Cornelius Wexler will probably get the nod. That's time! Wexler's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Nassiri fails in his attempt to clinch. Nassiri throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Wexler clinches up against the cage. Wexler lands with a left to the head. Nassiri jumps guard but Wexler turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Wexler's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Wexler throws a sloppy head kick and Nassiri moves out of range easily. Wexler clinches with his opponent.
Nassiri tries to score a body lock takedown but Wexler shows good agility there to stay on his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wexler gets control of Nassiri's arms and successfully pulls guard. Wexler will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Nassiri trying to control the position from guard on top but Wexler is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wexler throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Nassiri misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Cornelius Wexler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Issam Nassiri. Nassiri tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wexler swats him away and circles back towards the center. Wexler tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Nassiri manages to circle out of the way. Wexler pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nassiri is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Nassiri fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Nassiri is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Wexler is staying active. Cornelius Wexler overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Wexler putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Nassiri really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wexler. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Nassiri is trying to reverse the position but instead Wexler has taken his back - oops! Wexler keeps control of the position as Nassiri tries to break free.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Nassiri is still trying to improve position. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Cornelius Wexler dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round! Nassiri shoots in looking for a takedown. Wexler tries to sprawl out of it but Nassiri keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wexler manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Wexler scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Nassiri throws Wexler to one side and escapes! Nassiri tests Wexler's chin there with a solid looking shot. Wexler darts in looking for a takedown but Nassiri gets double underhooks and turns Wexler into the cage. Nassiri looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Wexler tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Nassiri avoids it. Nassiri goes for a takedown attempt but Wexler pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Nassiri is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Wexler pulls his head out easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wexler thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Nassiri's head. Nassiri wants to get back to his feet.
Nassiri wants to get back to full guard. Nassiri is looking to escape. Wexler wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nassiri keeps working.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Nassiri misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Cornelius Wexler. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Wexler, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
