PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Minatay Mibangon (ranked 23946 p4p, 23963 weight class) and Walay Buut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 40 - 57 - 10, fighting out of Las Vegas, Minatay Mibangon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 57 - 47 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walay Buut!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Mibangon feints and as Buut raises his hands in defense, Mibangon changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Buut looking to control.
Buut wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Buut's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Mibangon is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buut is pulling down on Mibangon's head to control his posture.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Buut tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Mibangon looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Mibangon closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Buut did well to prevent Mibangon getting side control.

Mibangon's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Buut is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mibangon is controlling the pace.
Buut controlling the position for now.
Mibangon stalling.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Further stalling from Mibangon.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Buut drives through with a takedown into Mibangon's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Minatay Mibangon dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Buut fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mibangon avoids it really well and circles away.
And Mibangon counters with a quick kick to the body but Buut blocks it.

Buut closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mibangon to the mat! Mibangon manages to get full guard.
Mibangon is wriggling around but Buut manages to pass to half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mibangon controlling the position well.
Buut is controlling the pace.
Mibangon avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Buut.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Mibangon is trying to get back to full guard.
Buut controlling the action here.
Buut missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Buut slows the pace down in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Buut fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Mibangon closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Buut's guard.
Buut is pulling down on Mibangon's head to control his posture.
Mibangon stopping the sweep attempt from Buut.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Minatay Mibangon will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Buut gets the takedown into side control.
Mibangon being controlled for a moment.
Buut wants to control but Mibangon is keeping him busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buut throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mibangon is trying to escape the position but Buut is controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mibangon is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Buut off and has taken his back!
Buut manages to reverse the position and now he's in Mibangon's guard. Nice work there by Buut.
Buut content to stall in guard here.
Mibangon pulls Buut in close to prevent any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Buut controlling from the top position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Let's hope that Buut has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mibangon looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Buut is fending him off so far but Mibangon persists. Nope, Buut circles away and we're back to standing.
Buut fails with the takedown
and Mibangon counters with a one-two to the body.
Walay Buut has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Minatay Mibangon is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Buut throws a wild body kick that Mibangon sees coming a mile off.

And that's the end of the fight!
Walay Buut comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Mibangon has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
