PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yawa Kiang (ranked 23997 p4p, 23935 weight class) and Way Nada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 38 - 68 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yawa Kiang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 52 - 54 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Way Nada!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Nada scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Kiang tries to kick Nada off in order to stand up. Nada Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Kiang wants to control but Nada postures up.
Nada is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Kiang will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Kiang parries the strikes from Nada easily there. Nada is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Kiang to escape.
Nada working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kiang being controlled for a moment.
Kiang is trying to control Nada's posture but Nada avoids it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kiang is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Nada in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Kiang can't do much from the bottom here.
Nada is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Kiang's shoulder. That is not cool.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Nada's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Nada shoots for a takedown but Kiang saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kiang throws a quick counter kick to the body but Nada avoids it.
Nada fails to land the takedown.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kiang shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Nada is trying to defend but Kiang finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Kiang seems to be working for a kimura but Nada defends the submission attempt.
Nada has his hands clasped together around Kiang's back. He's all about the action.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kiang perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Yawa Kiang will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Nada displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kiang.
Nada will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Nada bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nada trying to control the action but Kiang is working from the bottom.
Kiang wants to control but Nada postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sloppy strikes there by Nada.
Nada tries to score with some ground and pound. Kiang controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Kiang is trying to control Nada's posture but Nada avoids it.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Nada wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kiang keeps working.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Nada misses with a takedown
and Kiang counters with a nice body kick.
Nada shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kiang as he jumps to the side.
Yawa Kiang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Way Nada.
Nada will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Nada gets a double leg takedown into Kiang's guard.
Nada looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Nada trying to control the position from guard on top but Kiang is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kiang manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nada manages to get himself to full guard.


That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nada pulls Kiang in close to prevent any damage.
Nada is continuing to stall.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kiang is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Way Nada will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Kiang's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Kiang fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Nada follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Kiang ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nada drives through with a takedown into Kiang's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Nada showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nada throws a big elbow that misses.
Nada sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Kiang wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Nada stopping the sweep attempt from Kiang.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Nada looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Kiang looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kiang tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Nada swivels and escapes.
Nada steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Nada darts in looking for a takedown but Kiang gets double underhooks and turns Nada into the cage.
Kiang throws a quick counter head kick but Nada was just out of range.
Nada shoots in but no luck this time.
Yawa Kiang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Way Nada.
Kiang fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Nada shoots in but no luck this time.

Kiang closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Nada is looking for a sweep. Kiang is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nada gets back to full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Yawa Kiang.
I think Kiang has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
