The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Gordon bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Gordon (4) vs (0) McDonald Jr
McDonald Jr is trying to improve his position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gordon seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down McDonald Jr for as long as he can get away with.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gordon tries to lock up and control but McDonald Jr gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Gordon is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Gordon looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Gordon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McDonald Jr on the ground.
Gordon's corner are yelling at him, telling him to just focus on controlling McDonald Jr's hands.
