The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Viera drives through and clinches with Siregar against the cage.
Siregar has Viera pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Siregar pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Viera tumbling to the mat - Siregar dives into Viera's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Viera (0) vs (2) Siregar Siregar slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Viera tries to land a sweep but no joy. Siregar trying to control but Viera is working from the bottom. Siregar passes into half guard. Viera is trying to control but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Siregar working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Siregar is looking for a kimura but Viera is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Siregar to get the leverage.
Viera looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Siregar is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Viera sees it coming and defends easily. Viera really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Viera is refusing to be controlled, as Siregar sits in half guard. Siregar might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Viera haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Viera trying to control but Siregar postures up.
Viera is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Siregar has latched onto it... Big trouble! Siregar pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Viera is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Siregar!
