Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Elvis Park!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rodney Bates!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Chris Saunders and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Park lands a two punch combo.
Bates on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Park swings for the body but Bates moves out of range.
Park sets himself, and Bates steps forward looking for the clinch! Park avoids it this time.
Good shot there by Park.
Bates shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Park defends it nicely.
Park misses with a series of wild punches.
Bates fails with a takedown attempt.
Park looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Park ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bates moves away.
Bates takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Park looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Bates should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Bates has taken the fight to the clinch.
Park is trying to pull guard but Bates has him pressed against the cage.
Bates told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.
Park jumps guard but Bates stands there with Park around his waist. Park gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Park blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Park ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Park no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Park manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bates manages to get himself to full guard.

Park trying to move into half guard but instead Bates has managed to sweep!

Park wants to sweep but no luck.
Bates passes Park's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Park is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Bates pulls his head out easily.
Bates is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Park is not content to let Bates control the position.

Park looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Ground and pound from Bates.
Park slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Bates tries to free his leg and advance position but Park is retaining full guard.

Park has his foot on Bates's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bates works his way back into a safe position though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Park has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Bates has passed into side control.
Park sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Bates is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Park is just riding it out for now. Bates eventually gives up the hold.

Park looking for submissions off his back.
Park is not content to let Bates control the position.
Park gets full guard.

Park throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Bates escapes and throws Park's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Park sneaks back into half guard.

Park looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Park wants to get back to full guard.
Bates not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Park blocking the ground and pound attempt from Bates.
Park trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Park is wriggling around trying to escape.
Park wants to hold on but Bates pushes him away.
Park regains half guard.
Park tries to get to full guard but Bates has control of the leg.
Park is working hard here to advance position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Elvis Park dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

A jab from Park does it's job there.
Bates cracks Park with a right hand to the side of the head.
Bates takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Nice cross by Park.

Bates rushes Park and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Park is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Bates to keep the fight standing.
Bates fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Park is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bates can do to turn this around?

Park manages to pull guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Park is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bates defends well.
Park keeping moving, preventing Bates from controlling successfully.
Park is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Park has his foot on Bates's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bates works his way back into a safe position though.
Bates wants to control from the top but Park keeps moving.

Park trying to control but Bates flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!

Bates not allowing Park to control his hands.
Park tries to break free.
Bates gets his hands free as Park looks to control.
Bates is hanging on to Park's back as he tries to escape.
What can Park do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Park trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Park turns into Bates and is now in his guard.
Park works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Bates is breathing heavily.
Park keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Park tries to pass the half guard into mount. Bates knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Bates gets back to full guard.
Park pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bates is keeping the position for now.

Park postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Bates is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Park, into his guard.

Park not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Bates avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Rodney Bates has got the better of the ground game so far.
Bates's corner is telling him to maintain position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Park looking for a triangle here. Bates is fighting it but it looks tight! Park pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Bates is tapping out - this one is all over!
