Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kody Larson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Leon Heath! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Larson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Larson is looking to counter the offense by Heath and move into the clinch. Larson looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Larson gets cracked there but stands up to it.
This fight brought to you by 5M nutrition - it's mmmmm tasty. Nice jab by Heath. Larson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Heath was well out of range. Poor timing from Larson. Heath loads up on a big right hand but Larson slips the punch. A combination from Larson does no damage. Leon Heath seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Larson dives in and grabs Heath's left leg, looking for a takedown. Heath pushes down on Larson's head and hops out. Heath lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Larson at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Heath throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Larson has a takedown stuffed. Larson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Heath to score with a decent uppercut.
That's one minute gone in the round. A punch combination from Heath misses. Larson throws a big counter combination but Heath scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Larson is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Heath. Heath fails to land with a series of punches.
Heath moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Horrible takedown attempt by Larson or perhaps it was just good defense by Heath, which made it look bad. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kody Larson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Larson avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Leon Heath is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Heath lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Danga de danga de dang - Heath scores with a four punch combination! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Heath pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Larson back to the cage. Heath follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. A combination from Heath does no damage. Heath lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Larson fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Heath looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Heath misses with a wild combination.
Larson on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Larson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Heath.
Larson throws a quick counter head kick but Heath was just out of range. Larson moves into range and clinches up with Heath. Heath tries to break free but Larson pushes him back against the cage. Larson goes for a takedown in the clinch but Heath prevents it.
Larson looks to throw an elbow but misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Heath is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Larson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Heath lands a nice uppercut. Larson dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. We've been informed that Heath has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Heath tries to break the clinch but Larson is controlling the position. Heath is trying to push Larson away but Larson has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Larson tries for a takedown. No joy.
Heath lands a hook that snaps the head of Larson backwards.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Heath tries to break free but Larson pushes him back against the cage. Heath escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Heath throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Decent striking displayed by Heath there. Larson takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Larson is rocked! Larson seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Heath shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Larson is backing up but Heath catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Larson covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Heath Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Leon Heath!
