PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rudy Franklin (ranked 2754 p4p, 3661 weight class) and Andreas Kemp (ranked 330 p4p, 398 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rudy Franklin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Andreas Kemp!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kemp lands a jab to Franklin's midsection.
Kemp throws a right hand that misses
and Franklin counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

It looks like Andreas Kemp has been cut.
Kemp throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Andreas Kemp seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kemp misses with a two punch combination.
Franklin swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Kemp sizes up Franklin with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Kemp connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Franklin on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Kemp swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Franklin counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Franklin ducks under a wild hook from Kemp.
A little feinted left hand from Franklin on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Franklin steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kemp.
Franklin swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Kemp scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Kemp takes a swing at Franklin's ribcage but misses.
Kemp throws a lazy right hand but Franklin sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Franklin appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

Kemp throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Franklin counters with a stiff right hand.
Kemp scores with a nice right hand.
Kemp connects with a single shot there.
Kemp getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Kemp misses the jab.
Kemp throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Franklin counters with a nice body shot.
Kemp looks winded!
A looping hook to the body misses from Kemp. Franklin does a little dance to reset his feet.
A little feinted left hand from Franklin on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Kemp moves out of range of the strikes.
Kemp bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Franklin's head backwards.
Kemp throws a left and a right that both miss
and Franklin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Franklin scores with a body shot.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Kemp throws a series of punches but Franklin moves out of range.
Kemp defending well as Franklin loads up on a big left hand.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Kemp! But no joy.
Kemp displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Franklin throws out the jab.
Franklin lands a jab to Kemp's midsection.
Kemp will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Franklin counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Franklin throws a lazy right hand but Kemp sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Franklin just misses with a punch to the body.

Franklin throws a big shot that misses.
Franklin scores with a nice head shot.
Franklin bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Kemp's head backwards.
Franklin is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kemp.
Franklin loads up on a big right hand but Kemp slips the punch.
Franklin looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Kemp on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Franklin cracks Kemp with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Kemp looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Franklin finish him?

Kemp is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kemp takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Kemp is still on wobbly legs! Can Franklin finish him?
Kemp leaves his chin hanging out and Franklin seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Kemp crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Rudy Franklin!
