Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 42 - 61 - 5, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dawindi Buktot! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 57 - 48 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walay Buut! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Buktot misses with a body kick. Buut is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Buktot's half guard. Buut not landing any meaningful shots this time. Buut performing his best blanket impression for a moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Buktot wants to control but Buut is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Buut seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Buktot trying to control but Buut postures up.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Buktot shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Buut sprawls well. Buut wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Buktot gets slowly back to his feet. Buut is trying to counter with his kicks. Buktot shoots in and bounces Buut off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Buut being controlled here, momentarily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Buut kicks Buktot off and gets to his feet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Buktot stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Buktot wants it to stay on the feet. Buktot fires out a quick counter leg kick but Buut just manages to avoid it. Buut shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Buktot as he avoids it easily. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Walay Buut dominated that round. That's time! Buktot's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Nice sprawl there from Buktot as Buut shoots in. And Buktot counters with a quick kick to the body but Buut blocks it. Buut fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Buktot quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect. Buut shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Buktot as he avoids it easily. Dawindi Buktot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Walay Buut. Buut shoots for a takedown but Buktot saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Buktot tries to score a power double leg takedown but Buut sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Buktot somewhat. Buut thinks about the counter body kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Buktot fails to land the takedown. Buut shapes to counter with a head kick. Buut shoots in and drives through. Buktot sprawls well. Buktot is looking to counter with a body kick. Buut is trying hard to land a takedown here. Buktot sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Buktot shoots for a takedown but Buut saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Buktot fails to land the takedown. Buktot slaps away a takedown attempt from Buut, before circling back to the center of the mat. Buktot jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Buut tries for a takedown but Buktot circles away easily and Buktot counters with a left and a right that stings Buut. Buktot fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Buut throws a counter combo. Buut shoots in and drives through. Buktot sprawls well. Buktot attempts a counter takedown but Buut avoids it well and moves away. Buut shoots in looking for a takedown. Buktot tries to sprawl out of it but Buut keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Buktot manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. No luck for Buktot with that takedown attempt. Buut is trying to counter with his kicks. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Buktot fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Buut looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Dawindi Buktot dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round! Buut stuffs the takedown attempt from Buktot. Buktot gets slowly back to his feet. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Buut. Buktot went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Buktot shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Buut napping and manages to drive through into side control! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Buut takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Buut is trying to control Buktot's posture but Buktot avoids it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Buktot moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Buut struggling a bit here. Buut isn't going anywhere.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. The referee asks Buktot politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Buktot prefers to stall for the moment though.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Buut drives through with a takedown into guard. Buktot is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Buut is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Buktot controlling Buut's posture. Buktot's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

And that's the end of the fight! Dawindi Buktot showed his dominance in that final round. Well Buktot has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
