This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 8 wins and 12 losses; Julián Cicerón! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 36 wins and 22 losses; Roddy Banner! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Banner drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Cicerón (0) vs (2) Banner Cicerón keeping moving, preventing Banner from controlling successfully. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Banner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cicerón swivels though and keeps the full guard. Banner trying to control but Cicerón is working from the bottom. Banner is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cicerón wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Cicerón tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Banner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cicerón swivels though and keeps the full guard. Banner seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Banner's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Banner slips nicely into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cicerón wants to control but Banner is keeping busy and won't allow it. Banner works his foot free and advances to mount. Score +3 for passing guard: Cicerón (0) vs (5) Banner Cicerón is wriggling around trying to escape.
Banner tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Let's hope that Banner has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Cicerón keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Banner is looking to work his way around to Cicerón's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position. Banner takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Cicerón tries to reverse the position but Banner maintains control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Banner trying to control but he's not successful this time. Banner controlling his opponent. Banner forces the positional change into back control. Score +3 for taking back: Cicerón (0) vs (8) Banner Banner is looking for the choke from the back position but Cicerón is controlling his hands well.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Cicerón is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Banner.

That's six minutes gone in the round. Banner is looking for the choke from the back position but Cicerón is controlling his hands well. Cicerón is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Will Banner go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

That's seven minutes gone in the round. Banner patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Banner is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Cicerón defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Cicerón is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Banner gets his way!
Banner controlling the position well here. Cicerón rolled but Banner kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Banner tightening his grip on Cicerón, looking for the choke. Banner is looking for the choke from the back position but Cicerón is controlling his hands well.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Banner is cranking Cicerón's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Cicerón! He's tightened the choke and Cicerón is tapping out!
