The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Karelin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Kruger shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Karelin sprawls well. Karelin wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kruger gets slowly back to his feet. Kruger fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Karelin avoids it really well and circles away. Karelin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Kruger has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Nice sprawl there from Karelin as Kruger shoots in. Helio Karelin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hafthor Kruger. Kruger fails with a takedown attempt. Kruger is still trying to improve position. Karelin is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Kruger looks calm but he's in trouble here. Karelin gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Kruger is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Karelin lets go of the hold and Kruger can pop his arm back in it's socket.
