This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Kyung Quyen! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Phil Schofield and James Glass.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Montoya is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Quyen swats away the attempt to clinch by Montoya. Quyen tries to counter by closing the distance. Kyung Quyen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Montoya wants to clinch up but Quyen keeps it at a distance. Quyen gets a clinch. Quyen jumps into guard, dragging Montoya to the mat.
Montoya stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Quyen swivels though and keeps the full guard. That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Montoya tries for a kimura but Quyen is defending well. Montoya wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Quyen, who protects the arm well. Quyen tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Montoya wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Quyen is trying to control Montoya's posture but Montoya avoids it.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Quyen is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Montoya is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Quyen will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Quyen wants to control but Montoya postures up. Quyen tries to get back to half guard but can't. Quyen is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Montoya is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Quyen has escaped the position, nice work there. Montoya is looking to take a break and control but Quyen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Montoya is really struggling to control Quyen but he's trying to hold on to the position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Quyen manages to get back to half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Montoya takes the fight on points by 10 to 2. In defeat, Kyung Quyen stepped up to the mic, saying 'Good fighter, I prefer to win but this was a tough match, congrats to my opponent I hope his next fight is glorious for him.'. |
