Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chone Key! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ernie Mason! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Winston Howard and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Key swats away the attempt to clinch by Mason. Key shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Mason wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Key is now in half guard. Key throwing shots but Mason is blocking nicely. Mason is trying to control but can't.
Mason might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Key kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Key has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Key wants to stand but Mason has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Key shoots in and bounces Mason off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mason keeping moving, preventing Key from controlling successfully. Key stopping the sweep attempt from Mason. Mason is pulling down on Key's head. It's preventing any offense from Key, at least for the moment. Mason looks gassed! Key loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Key wants to stand but Mason has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Mason controlling the position. Mason looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Key passes into half guard.
Mason holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Key is thwarting Mason's attempts to control the position. Key performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Key is looking to take a break and control but Mason is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Key wants to get back to his feet.
Mason is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Key's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Key's back! Key looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Key tries to escape the position.

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Mason's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chone Key dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Key lands a jab-cross combination. Key pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Key keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Key lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Key. Key shoots in but Mason avoids the takedown attempt easily. Key closes the distance and clinches. Mason wants to break free but Key has control.
Key looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Key wants a takedown.
Key wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Key is trying to force a seperation but Mason has the dominant position. Key manages to break the clinch.
Mason dodges the punch combination from Key.
Mason looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Mason misses with a kick to the body.
Key tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mason swats him away and circles back towards the center. Ernie Mason seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A punch combination from Key misses. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Key moves out of range as Mason throws a body kick.
Key closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Mason did well to prevent Key getting side control. Key missing with the ground and pound from half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mason wants to control but Key is keeping busy.
Mason is positioning himself well to prevent Key advancing to mount. Mason trying to hold on to Key's head to control him but Key postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mason is trying to get back to full guard. Key is thwarting Mason's attempts to control the position.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Key scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Key stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Mason gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Mason controlling Key's posture.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mason is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Key wants to pass the guard but Mason is keeping the position. Mason is trying to control the position but Key postures up. Key tries to stand but Mason is controlling from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Mason is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Key is controlling him.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Key misses with a few strikes there.
Key takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Key staying out of range there. Key lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. A low kick from Mason misses and Key counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Mason is trying to control but can't.
Mason is staying active underneath Key, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Mason is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Key's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Key's back! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chone Key dominated that second round. That's time! Key's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Mason throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Mason tries to clinch there but Key circles away.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Mason crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Key - the referee stops the clock and Mason gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Key. Mason manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Key tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Key moves into the clinch. Key breaks from the clinch.
Key lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Mason backs up against the cage.
Mason with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Key to score with a decent uppercut. Excellent takedown into side control there by Key. Mason is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Mason is trying to maintain the position but Key is very close to passing his half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Mason controlling the position well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mason is looking to control Key's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mason avoid being mounted? Mason on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Key is trying to control the action in half guard but Mason is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Key wants to stand up but Mason is controlling the position.

Key displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Mason tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Key fails to land the takedown. Key lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Key throws a right hand that Mason ducks under and follows up with a left that Mason also avoids with ease. Chone Key is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. A combination from Key does no damage. Key takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Key looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Key swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Key shoots in and drives through. Mason sprawls well. Key lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Key will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Mason wants to slow Key down by chopping away at his legs. Key scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. The fighters are battling for position here. Mason manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Mason wants to stand but Key is controlling the position. Mason not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Key would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Mason wants to sweep here but Key controlling him for the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mason is trying to control the position but Key postures up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Mason lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Key shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Mason is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Ernie Mason has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Key tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Mason tries to lock up and control but Key gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
And that's the end of the fight! Chone Key showed his dominance in that final round. Well Key has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
