Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cormac McCarthy (ranked 2322 p4p, 3128 weight class) and Wesley Crusher (ranked 266 p4p, 339 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cormac McCarthy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wesley Crusher! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Chris Edwards and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Crusher swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. McCarthy throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Crusher has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Crusher missing with a left hand there. McCarthy was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. McCarthy lands a lovely overhand right. Crusher takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. McCarthy looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. McCarthy scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Crusher doesn't seem bothered though. McCarthy throws a nice inside leg kick. Nice defenses there by Crusher. Crusher tries to counter with a clinch but McCarthy shakes him off and moves away. Crusher gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Crusher fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Crusher has his head snapped back a nice jab. It seemed like Crusher was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Crusher loads up on a big right hand but McCarthy slips the punch.

McCarthy lands a glancing blow to the side of Crusher's head. Crusher's jab looks to have found its range, popping McCarthy under the eye. Crusher takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Crusher throws an overhand right that lands on McCarthy's shoulder, as McCarthy tries to avoid the shot. McCarthy lands a jab to the nose. Crusher wants to land a leg kick but McCarthy is out of range. McCarthy misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Crusher.
Crusher throws a shot from downtown. McCarthy moves away and avoids it. McCarthy was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. McCarthy lands a lovely overhand right. Crusher tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Cormac McCarthy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice uppercut there from Crusher.
It looks like Cormac McCarthy has been cut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McCarthy connects with a jab. McCarthy waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Crusher. McCarthy is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Crusher throws a right hand that McCarthy ducks under and follows up with a left that McCarthy also avoids with ease.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Crusher connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. McCarthy is looking to clinch. A nice inside leg kick there by McCarthy. That's going to slow Crusher down. McCarthy throws a head kick that misses and McCarthy takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. McCarthy lands a really nice looking cross but Crusher seems unphased.
Crusher sends McCarthy crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Crusher is motioning to the referee to let McCarthy up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet! Crusher uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from McCarthy. It seemed like Crusher was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Crusher moves away from the strike by McCarthy. Crusher throws out a loose jab but McCarthy uses good head movement to avoid it. A telegraphed right hand from Crusher misses the target. McCarthy is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Crusher throws a low kick but it's checked well by McCarthy. A head kick misses from McCarthy. Crusher is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by McCarthy. McCarthy swings widly with a right hand
enabling Crusher to counter with a crisp jab. Crusher fakes high and swings low for a body shot but McCarthy manages to avoid it. McCarthy will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A jab from McCarthy misses. Crusher throws a body shot but no joy. Crusher slips under a jab. McCarthy misses with an uppercut. Crusher saw that one coming. McCarthy connects with a crisp jab. McCarthy lunges at Crusher with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Crusher's hand. McCarthy thuds a left hand into Crusher's body. A left lands for Crusher. Crusher throws a hook but McCarthy blocks it. An attempted straight right counter from McCarthy misses the target. A solid leg kick lands there for McCarthy.

McCarthy is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. McCarthy uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. McCarthy takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! McCarthy just misses with a punch to the body.

McCarthy stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Crusher. McCarthy misses with a right hand and McCarthy takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. McCarthy checks the leg kick. Crusher throws a head kick that misses. Crusher takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. McCarthy scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. McCarthy throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Crusher. Crusher waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract McCarthy. Crusher swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Cormac McCarthy will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Cormac McCarthy's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Crusher misses with a body shot.

McCarthy misses with a looping right. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Some bone on bone action there as Crusher checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Crusher shapes to counter with a head kick. Crusher throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. McCarthy displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Crusher throws out the jab. McCarthy throws a hook but Crusher avoids it easily. McCarthy walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Crusher throws a hook to the side of McCarthy's head but McCarthy sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Nice body kick there by Crusher. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. McCarthy's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Crusher connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! McCarthy scrambles back to his feet.

Cormac McCarthy is winning the standup battle so far. McCarthy throws a jab when Crusher was well out of range. A slow jab from Crusher misses its intended target.

and Crusher counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Crusher breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! McCarthy uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Crusher.
Crusher stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. McCarthy pivots, looking for a leg kick but Crusher is out of range and McCarthy settles back down. Crusher misses the jab. Crusher throws a shot from downtown. McCarthy moves away and avoids it. McCarthy fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Crusher. Crusher takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. McCarthy staying out of range there. Crusher uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before McCarthy has time to react. Crusher has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. Crusher misses with a wild body shot. Crusher throws a sloppy head kick and McCarthy moves out of range easily. McCarthy closes the distance and clinches. McCarthy tries to pull guard but Crusher forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Crusher lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. McCarthy manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Crusher accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Crusher really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McCarthy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Crusher got a little sloppy there for a moment and McCarthy has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Crusher has managed to get both his arms back between McCarthy's legs - danger averted. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. McCarthy keeping moving, preventing Crusher from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McCarthy can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Crusher controls the pace. McCarthy had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Crusher defends it easily. McCarthy is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Crusher defends well. McCarthy looking for a triangle here. Crusher is fighting it but it looks tight! McCarthy pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Crusher is tapping out - this one is all over!
