PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dawindi Buktot (ranked 23943 p4p, 23902 weight class) and Walay Buut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 43 - 61 - 5, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dawindi Buktot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 57 - 49 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walay Buut!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Buktot shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Buut sprawls well. Buut wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Buktot gets slowly back to his feet.
Buktot fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Buut avoids it really well and circles away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buktot shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Buut defends it nicely.
Buut steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.

Buut dives in for a single leg takedown but Buktot sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
It appears Buktot was looking to counter with a kick there.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Buktot shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Buut pinned against the cage. Buut gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Buktot stays in close to Buut's body and controls the position.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Buut holds on and takes a little breather.
Buktot wants to control from the top but Buut keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Buut pulls Buktot in close to prevent any damage.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Buut drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Dawindi Buktot will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Buktot has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Let's hope that Buut has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Buut seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Buktot shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Buut as he jumps to the side.

Buut tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Buktot defends well and Buut ends up having to push Buktot into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Buut follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.

and Buut counters with a shoot takedown. Buktot fights it but they end up in guard.

Buktot wants to control the position but Buut says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Buktot wants to control but Buut is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Walay Buut showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Buut looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Buut closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Buktot did well to prevent Buut getting side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Buut looking to score a takedown here. Buktot is defending well but Buut drives through and ends up in Buktot's guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Buktot manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Buktot is pressed up against the cage. Buut has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Buktot down to the mat. Buktot avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Buut changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Buktot tries to avoid it but Buut manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Buktot to the ground. Buktot escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Dawindi Buktot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Walay Buut.
Buktot stuffs the takedown attempt from Buut. Buut gets slowly back to his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Buut fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Buktot sprawls well initially but Buut persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Walay Buut comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Buut has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
