Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Klayton King (ranked 3144 p4p, 22073 weight class) and Monty Don (ranked 341 p4p, 527 weight class). Monty Don struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 207.8lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Klayton King! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 17 - 17 - 0, fighting out of London, Monty Don! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Valeri Chadov and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Don moves forwards but King connects with a nice, crisp jab. King misses with a hook. Don ducked under it nicely. Don with the counter takedown but King avoids it easily. Don looks to score with a jab to the body but King is just out of range. King scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Don has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from King finds it's way round the side to connect with Don's head. King takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. King looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Don is fending him off so far but King persists. Nope, Don circles away and we're back to standing. King looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. King fails to land with a series of punches.
King closes the distance and clinches up with Don, looking for a takedown. King pushes Don against the ropes but Don circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. A nice side step and Don releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Klayton King. That's going to take a lot out of him. King misses with a jab, cross combination.
Don takes one to the side of the head.
This has been an exciting period of action! King throws a series of punches but Don avoids them all with ease.
That's one minute gone in the round. Don misses with an uppercut. King saw that one coming. King was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. King darts in and out, connecting with a jab. King lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. King shoots in but Don avoids the takedown attempt easily. King lands a body shot.
Don misses with a hook. The fighters circling - King throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Don fails with the takedown and King counters with a stiff right hand. King with a hook.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Don walks into a straight right hand from King. Don misses with a looping left. Don on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Don throws a leg kick and King counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Don has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from King finds it's way round the side to connect with Don's head. King bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Don's head backwards. Klayton King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. King throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Don's waist but Don gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing King off to one side. King jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
King is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Don takes one to the chin there. King connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. King scores with a jab to the jaw.
That's three minutes gone in the round. King connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Don takes one on the chin but seems OK.
King lands with a nice combination. Don backs away looking to recover. Don walks into a straight right hand from King. Don walks into a straight right hand from King. Don stuffs the takedown. King connects with a nice looking jab.
King lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
King will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A jab from King does it's job there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. King shoots in for a takedown but Don shows good takedown defense. Don swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Don closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. King thuds his right hand into Don's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Don with a lazy takedown attempt and King cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Don throws a leg kick and King counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. King connects with a single shot there. King has a takedown stuffed. King lands with a straight right. Don didn't see that one coming. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Klayton King dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Don throws a body shot but no joy. King is looking to counter punch. Don gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. King dives in for a single leg takedown but Don sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes. Don tries for a takedown. No joy.
King lands an uppercut. King lands a hook that snaps the head of Don backwards. Don working hard to break the clinch. Don missing with knees to the body.
Don misses with a knee to the head. King lands a right hand that snaps the head of Don backwards. King working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. King lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Don wants to get back to striking at distance but King won't allow it.

That's one minute gone in the round. King lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Don backwards. Don is breathing heavily. Don stalling in the clinch but King improves position. King is working Don over against the ropes. King pushes Don back against the ropes and lands a hook to the side of the head. King lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the ropes. King scores with an uppercut up the middle. King is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Don can do to turn this around? King gets through Don's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. I was talking to King's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Good body shot from King.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. King obliges. King lands a body shot in the clinch.
Klayton King has scored more points in the clinch so far. King is leaning against Don and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. A nice right hand lands inside from King. Nice body punch from King. King working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A short right from King on the inside. Don is rocked! A short left from King. Don is still on wobbly legs! Can King finish him? King lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. King lands a left hand that snaps the head of Don backwards. Don has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. King creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Don with a big uppercut! Don tries to clinch up but King pushes him back against the ropes and lands another monster strike that crumples Don to the mat! Don covers up and King unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
