PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Grappling Panda (ranked 3122 p4p, 24748 weight class) and Lieutenant Data (ranked 301 p4p, 450 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lieutenant Data!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Percy O'Donnell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Data rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Panda moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Data's corner calls for a 1-2. Data obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Data has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Data lands a big head kick that sends Panda tumbling to the mat! Data takes a step backwards and waves Panda back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Panda is rocked!

It looks like Grappling Panda has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Data tries a head kick but it misses.
Oh Panda is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Data throws a good cross that connects.

Panda is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Data.
Data thuds his right hand into Panda's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Data gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Panda seems to have got his legs back now.
Panda seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Data for as long as he can get away with.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Panda postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Data is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Panda, into his guard.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Panda can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Data controls the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Panda gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Panda looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Data sends Panda crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Data is motioning to the referee to let Panda up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Panda ducks into an uppercut from Data and that's knocked him out cold! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Lieutenant Data!
Lieutenant Data spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
