PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marques Roy (ranked 452 p4p, 1259 weight class) and Jake Walton (ranked 60 p4p, 160 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Marques Roy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jake Walton!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Bart Greer and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walton throws a body shot but no joy.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Roy.
A nice side step and Walton releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Walton throws the left hand but Roy avoids the punch easily.

Roy dives in and scores a takedown into Walton's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Roy advances position into side control!
Roy scores with a couple of short elbows.
Roy lands some shots froms side control.
Walton manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Roy wants to improve his position but Walton is controlling well.

Roy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Walton looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Roy tries to get to full guard but Walton has control of the leg.
Roy is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Freaky Fight Club, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Walton uses his free foot to push down on Roy's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Roy.

Walton jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Roy manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Walton is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Roy pulls Walton in to control the position.
Roy wants to sweep but no luck.
Roy keeping moving, preventing Walton from controlling successfully.
Roy seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Walton postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Roy is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Walton, into his guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Roy connects with a nice short shot to Walton's temple.

Roy has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Roy lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Roy looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Walton with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Walton is in a horrible position here. Roy smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Walton is trying desperately to improve position.
Roy lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Walton is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
A nice elbow there by Roy.
Walton is still in real trouble! Can Roy finish him?
A big strike lands for Roy! That's really hurt Walton and he's turned his back - Roy keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Roy jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
