PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Quetzalcoatl Tlaloc (ranked 3691 p4p, 5793 weight class) and Shocka Smarty (ranked 231 p4p, 0 weight class). Tlaloc's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Llamado de Huitzilopochtli. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smarty drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Smarty decides to stand back up. Smarty steps back and let's Tlaloc get back to his feet.
Quetzalcoatl Tlaloc seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smarty goes for a double leg but Tlaloc avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Tlaloc continues to drive forward.

Smarty bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Tlaloc tries to strike from the bottom but misses.

Smarty decides to stand back up.

Tlaloc feints and as Smarty raises his hands in defense, Tlaloc changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Smarty is wriggling around but Tlaloc manages to pass to half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Smarty fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Tlaloc avoids it really well and circles away.
Tlaloc half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Tlaloc shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Smarty manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Tlaloc throws an elbow that misses. Smarty uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Tlaloc's guard. Nice move by Smarty!

and Smarty counters with a left to the body.
Tlaloc is breathing heavily.
Smarty darts in looking for a takedown but Tlaloc gets double underhooks and turns Smarty into the cage.

Tlaloc appears to be looking for a big counter.

Tlaloc fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Smarty sprawls well initially but Tlaloc persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tlaloc lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Smarty shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Tlaloc's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tlaloc shoots in looking for a takedown. Smarty tries to sprawl out of it but Tlaloc keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smarty manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Tlaloc stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Smarty has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Tlaloc manages to get his head free but now Smarty has transitioned to an armbar! Tlaloc grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Smarty! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
