Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rudy Beckwith (ranked 1258 p4p, 1672 weight class) and Jubei Akechi (ranked 122 p4p, 166 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jubei Akechi was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Paul Tew and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beckwith fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Akechi sprawls well initially but Beckwith persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Beckwith is working for a kimura but Akechi is defending it quite comfortably.
Beckwith wants to lay and pray for a moment but Akechi keeps working.
Beckwith seems to be looking for submissions.
Akechi won't allow Beckwith to pass to mount.
Akechi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Beckwith is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Akechi doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Beckwith.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

and Akechi counters with a stiff right hand.

Beckwith rushes Akechi and presses him up against the cage.

Beckwith has picked Akechi up - he's going for a ride! Beckwith dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Beckwith is looking for a kimura here.
Beckwith looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's time! Beckwith's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Beckwith has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Akechi finds it's way round the side to connect with Beckwith's head.

Beckwith has hold of one of Akechi's legs. Akechi is fighting the takedown attempt but Beckwith gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Beckwith postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Akechi is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Beckwith, into his guard.
Akechi wants to control from the top but Beckwith keeps moving.
Beckwith is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Akechi frees his head nicely. Oh but Beckwith has switched to an armbar! Akechi is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
