PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hey Arnold (ranked 4066 p4p, 4124 weight class) and Sergey Volkov (ranked 427 p4p, 0 weight class). Arnold comes to the cage accompanied by Eye of the tiger. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hey Arnold!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergey Volkov!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Volkov moves into the clinch.
Volkov lands a good knee to the midsection. Arnold won't want to take too many of those.
Volkov unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Volkov has Arnold pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Arnold manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Volkov decides to pull guard.
Arnold sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Arnold got a little sloppy there for a moment and Volkov has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Arnold has managed to get both his arms back between Volkov's legs - danger averted.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Volkov not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Volkov has his foot on Arnold's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Arnold works his way back into a safe position though.

Volkov has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Arnold has passed into side control.
A lull in the action here as Arnold stalls from top position.
Volkov is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Arnold tries for a kimura but Volkov is defending well.
Volkov is looking to reverse the position.
Arnold controls the position from side control.
Volkov gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Volkov tries to kick Arnold off but Arnold keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Arnold takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Arnold seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Volkov for as long as he can get away with.
Arnold wants to free his trapped foot but Volkov is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Arnold takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Volkov tries to get to full guard but Arnold has control of the leg.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Arnold perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Volkov feints a jab promting Arnold to slip. Volkov then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Arnold slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Volkov lands a nice shot that snaps Arnold's head back.

Volkov has taken the fight to the clinch.
Arnold goes for a takedown in the clinch but Volkov prevents it.
Arnold is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Volkov wants a takedown but no success here.
Volkov looks winded!
Volkov gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Arnold.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Sergey Volkov dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Arnold throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Arnold leaves Volkov with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Volkov shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Arnold as he jumps to the side.
Arnold avoids the head kick by Volkov.

Arnold closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Volkov to the mat! Volkov manages to get full guard.
Volkov is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Arnold is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Volkov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Arnold. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Arnold works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Volkov is breathing heavily.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Arnold in particular looking to stall.
Arnold's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Arnold uses his free foot to push down on Volkov's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Volkov.

Arnold avoids the attempt from Volkov to control.
Arnold punching from mount but Volkov doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Volkov is working to get back to half guard.
BOOM! Arnold connects with a massive shot to the dome!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Arnold works his way to his opponent's back.
What can Volkov do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Arnold is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Volkov won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Arnold off his unconscious opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Hey Arnold!
An intense looking Hey Arnold took to the microphone post fight and gave a little speech: 'I’m the terminator bitchhhhhh'.
