PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jean Claude Dusse (ranked 4067 p4p, 4743 weight class) and Shawn Dean (ranked 429 p4p, 265 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jean Claude Dusse!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Shawn Dean!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Nard Betker and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dean gets a takedown into half guard.
Dusse throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Dean is just content to waste time from the top position. Dusse takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Dusse has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Dean is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dean wants to control from the top but Dusse keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dean preventing the sweep.
Dusse keeping moving, preventing Dean from controlling successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Dusse throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Dean tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Dusse is in Dean's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dean can do anything to dispel that myth.
Dusse postures up and lands a big shot to Dean's brow.
Dusse is stalling in the full guard.

Dusse scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Dean is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Dusse wants to improve his position but Dean is controlling well.

The fighters are battling for position here. Dusse manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Dusse is pulling down on Dean's head to control his posture.
Dean trying to control the position from guard on top but Dusse is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Dusse is pulling down on Dean's head. It's preventing any offense from Dean, at least for the moment.

Dean wants to control from the top but Dusse keeps moving.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Dean slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Dusse tries to close the distance and clinch but Dean swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dusse missing with a left hand there. Dean was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Dusse shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Dusse is thwarting Dean's attempts to control the position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jean Claude Dusse will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Dusse working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Dean controls Dusse momentarily but Dusse frees himself.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dean is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Dean stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dusse swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Dusse is looking to sweep but instead, Dean has passed into half guard.
Dusse manages to get to full guard.
Dean pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dusse is keeping the position for now.
We've been informed that Dean has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Dean stopping the sweep attempt from Dusse.

Dusse has Dean pulled in close to control his posture.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Horrible takedown attempt by Dusse or perhaps it was just good defense by Dean, which made it look bad.

Dean bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Dusse is looking for a sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dusse wants to control but Dean postures up.
Dusse tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Dean wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Dean wants to control but Dusse is keeping him busy.
Dusse manages to work his way to half guard, despite Dean's best efforts.

Dean controlling the action here.
Dean seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Dusse does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Dusse won't allow Dean to pass to mount.
Dean perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Dusse gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Dean to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Dean looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Shawn Dean showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Dusse tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Dean has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Dean trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Dusse is trying desperately to improve position.

Dusse wants to hold on but Dean pushes him away.
Dusse can't escape the position.
Dean controlling the pace for now.
Dean tries to control but Dusse wriggling away.
Dusse is in all sorts of trouble here.
Dean trying to control but Dusse is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Dusse bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Dean might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Dusse haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Dean is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Shawn Dean comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dean has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
