The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peterson lands a jab to Smash's midsection.
Peterson throws a body punch but Smash moves out of range.
Smash fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

and Smash counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Smash prevents Peterson from improving his position.
Still in half guard, Smash seems content to control.

Peterson looking for subs from the bottom but Smash mounts him!
Smash lands a big shot there that rocks Peterson but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Peterson wants to hold on but Smash pushes him away.
