PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marques Roy (ranked 427 p4p, 570 weight class) and Pitter Patter (ranked 57 p4p, 72 weight class). Marques Roy had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Marques Roy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Pitter Patter!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Dirk Anderson and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patter scores with a crisp jab that stopped Roy in his tracks.
Pitter Patter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Roy takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Roy ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Roy changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Patter swings and misses with a shot to the body

and Roy decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Patter's guard.
Roy is stalling in the full guard.
Roy keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Patter's head.
Roy seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Patter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Roy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Roy takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Roy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Well, if Roy is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Roy is nestled in close to Patter, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Patter can do anything to dispel that myth.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Roy connects with a nice short shot to Patter's temple.

Roy looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Patter with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Roy's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Patter takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Check out the look on Roy's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Patter is bucking up trying to escape but Roy cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
BOOM! Roy connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

We've been informed that Patter has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Roy takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The referee warns Patter that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Roy has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Patter's face.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Patter looks to throw the jab but Roy is out of range.

Roy shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Patter pinned against the cage. Patter gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Roy tries to score a power double leg takedown but Patter sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Roy somewhat.

Roy manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Patter on his heels. He'll look to pass Patter's guard now, I'm sure.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Roy, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
