Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tortured Soul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnny Penn is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tortured Soul! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Penn! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Soul throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Penn's waist but Penn gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Soul off to one side. Penn is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Soul shoots in and bounces Penn off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Soul trying to control but Penn is working from the bottom. Penn working for submissions but it's allowed Soul to get to half guard.
Soul perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Soul prevents Penn from standing back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Well, if Soul is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Soul prevents Penn from improving his position. Soul slows the pace down in half guard. Penn wants to control but Soul is keeping busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Soul is controlling the pace.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Tortured Soul just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Penn misses with a takedown and Soul counters with a shoot takedown. Penn fights it but they end up in guard. Penn looks gassed! Penn keeping moving, preventing Soul from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Soul wants to pass the guard but Penn is keeping the position. Penn is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Soul is controlling him. Penn being controlled here, momentarily. Penn working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Soul.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Soul tries to free his leg and advance position but Penn is retaining full guard.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Soul closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Soul tries for a takedown but Penn sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Soul looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Soul thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Penn is trying to keep Soul in close.
Penn is working an open guard so Soul takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Soul changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Penn tries to avoid it but Soul manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Penn to the ground. Penn escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tortured Soul. That's going to take a lot out of him. Penn looking for a takedown here - he's got it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tortured Soul dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Soul bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Penn is looking for a sweep. Soul is looking to take a break and control but Penn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. A lull in the action here. Soul working away. Penn pushes Soul away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Soul gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Penn is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Soul just content to control the position. Soul works to advance to full mount. Penn defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Soul wants to finish this one by submission but Penn is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Soul. Soul tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Penn is desperately trying to improve his position but Soul has a good base and remains in mount. Soul takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Soul has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Tortured Soul just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Soul misses with a takedown and Penn counters with a one-two to the body. Soul feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Soul slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Soul won't allow Penn to sweep him here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Soul passes easily into side control. Nice work. Soul remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Soul has knee on belly and moves into mount. Tortured Soul overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Soul controlling from mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Soul sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Soul controlling from the full mount. Penn is trying to escape the mount but Soul keeps good control and instead manages to take Penn's back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Soul controlling from the back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tortured Soul dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!
Penn misses with a head kick.
Penn digs a good hook to Soul's body.
Soul looks for a takedown but Penn sprawls well. Penn misses with a takedown and Soul counters with a nice double leg into guard. Soul forces his way into half guard. Soul controlling the action here. Penn is trying to stand.
Still in half guard, Soul seems content to control. Penn takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Soul prevents Penn from improving his position. Soul slows the pace down in half guard. Soul not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Soul controlling the action here. Penn trying to hold on to Soul's head to control him but Soul postures up.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Tortured Soul just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Soul gets in close and instigates a clinch. Soul drags the fight down to the ground.
Soul managing to control the position. Soul trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Soul seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Soul wants to sweep here but Penn controlling him for the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Soul is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Soul is looking for a triangle but Penn pushes his legs off easily.
Soul keeping moving, preventing Penn from controlling successfully. Soul not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Soul pulls Penn in close to prevent any damage. Penn preventing the sweep.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Soul working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Penn.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Soul fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Soul bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Soul tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Penn is not content to let Soul control the position. Tortured Soul is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Soul working away.
And that's the end of the fight! Tortured Soul showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Soul, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
