Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 16 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, AJ Menendez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Erick Colonel!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Colonel lands a big head kick that sends Menendez tumbling to the mat! Colonel takes a step backwards and waves Menendez back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Menendez is rocked!

It looks like AJ Menendez has been cut.
Menendez tries to clinch up but Colonel circles away and keeps his distance.
Oh Menendez is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Colonel moves into the clinch successfully.
Menendez seems to have got his legs back now.

Colonel's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Colonel lands a nice looking body kick.

Menendez shoots in and bounces Colonel off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Colonel manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Colonel's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Colonel has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Menendez closes this distance looking for a takedown but Colonel circles away.
Colonel connects with a right hand. Menendez shakes it off.
Colonel throws a nice head kick!

Menendez tries to keep at a distance but Colonel has taken the fight into the clinch.

Colonel breaks from the clinch.

Menendez moves out of range of the body kick.
Colonel looks for a takedown but Menendez sprawls well.

Colonel breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Colonel shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Menendez but Menendez pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Colonel fails in his attempt to clinch.
We've been told by Menendez's head coaches at Cozad MMA Montreal that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Colonel closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Menendez fails to pull guard.
Menendez tries to break free but Colonel pushes him back against the cage.
Menendez jumps guard but Colonel turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for AJ Menendez. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Colonel's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A head kick from Colonel lands but Menendez takes it in his stride.
No luck for Colonel with that takedown attempt.

Colonel throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Menendez's head.

Colonel misses with a takedown attempt - Menendez sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Menendez shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Colonel circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Menendez drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Colonel follows Menendez to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!
