PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kugus Amiga (ranked 23609 p4p, 23683 weight class) and Richard John Salvacion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 53 - 50 - 6, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kugus Amiga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 49 - 59 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Richard John Salvacion!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Gwen Towbar and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Salvacion scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Salvacion controls the position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Amiga isn't going anywhere.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Salvacion with a lazy takedown attempt
and Amiga counters with a good, hard body kick but Salvacion shrugs it off.
Amiga fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Amiga slaps away a takedown attempt from Salvacion, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Salvacion just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromAmiga.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Amiga shoots in and drives through. Salvacion sprawls well.

Amiga shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Salvacion manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Salvacion has Amiga pulled in close to control his posture.

Amiga is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Salvacion tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Salvacion is pulling down on Amiga's head to control his posture.
Amiga engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Amiga stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Salvacion swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Salvacion will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Amiga was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Richard John Salvacion will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Salvacion moves in looking to clinch but Amiga pushes him off.
Amiga is looking to counter with a body kick.
Salvacion stuffs the takedown.
Nice sprawl there from Amiga as Salvacion shoots in.
And Amiga counters with a quick kick to the body but Salvacion blocks it.
Amiga has his takedown stuffed
and Salvacion counters with a body kick that stops Amiga in his tracks momentarily.

Salvacion fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Amiga sprawls well initially but Salvacion persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Salvacion keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Salvacion's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Amiga makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Salvacion tries to sprawl but Amiga drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Salvacion moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Salvacion is controlling Amiga's posture.
Amiga engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Salvacion looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

More stalling from Salvacion.
Salvacion controls Amiga momentarily but Amiga frees himself.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Amiga is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Salvacion's half guard.
Salvacion scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Amiga manages to mount him!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kugus Amiga dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Amiga misses with a takedown attempt
and Salvacion counters with a nice body kick.
Salvacion shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Amiga defends it nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Salvacion closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Salvacion lands in his opponent's guard.
Amiga wants to get back to his feet but Salvacion passes into half guard.

Amiga is looking for a sweep. Salvacion is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Salvacion is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Amiga trying to control from the bottom.
Amiga controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Amiga tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Salvacion defends well and Amiga ends up having to push Salvacion into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Salvacion steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Salvacion is trying to trip Amiga. He has hold of a leg but Amiga is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Salvacion persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Amiga has Salvacion pulled in close to control his posture.

And that's the end of the fight!
Richard John Salvacion comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Salvacion has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
