Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rhett Colett (ranked 3938 p4p, 5260 weight class) and Evan Law (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Evan Law is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rhett Colett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Evan Law!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Alyssa Summers and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Law shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Colett's guard.
Law looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Colett wants to get back to his feet but Law is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Colett trying to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Colett looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Law puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Colett knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Law on the ground.
Law wants to take a breather but Colett is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Colett is trying to stand.
Law missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Colett looks like he's trying to stand up.

Colett is staying active underneath Law, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Law tries to keep at a distance but Colett has taken the fight into the clinch.
Colett is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Law pulls him back up using the underhooks.
A right hook to the body lands for Colett.
Colett lands a knee to the body.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Law has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Colett is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Law is refusing to be controlled, as Colett sits in half guard.

Law is trying to get back to full guard.
Colett wants to lay and pray for a moment but Law keeps working.
Colett is taking a breather. Law says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Colett thows a huge punch but Law dodges it nicely.
Colett lands strikes from half guard.
Colett tries to stand and escape but Law is controlling the position.
Law is trying to control but can't.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Colett.
Law is trying to improve his position.
Law wants to control but Colett postures up.

Colett wants to lay and pray for a moment but Law keeps working.
Colett remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Law tries to buck Colett off but Colett is having none of it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Colett is looking to take a break and control but Law is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Colett decides to pull guard.
Law wants to control from the top but Colett keeps moving.
Law won't allow Colett to get back to his feet.
Colett looking to hit a scissor sweep but Law is one step ahead there.

Colett looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Law is breathing heavily.

Colett darts in and clinches Law up against the cage.

Colett breaks the clinch.
Law shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Colett sprawls well. Colett wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Law gets slowly back to his feet.
Colett with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Colett breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Colett thuds his shin into the meat of Law's side.

Colett closes the distance and clinches.
A nice left hand lands by Colett.
Colett is leaning against Law and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Colett lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Law or not.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Colett has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Law after a bit of a struggle.
Law gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Colett.
Colett stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Colett wants a takedown but no success here.

Rhett Colett is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Law stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Colett.
Colett throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Law's head.
Law swats away the attempt to clinch by Colett.
Law closes this distance looking for a takedown but Colett circles away.

Colett manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Law on his heels. He'll look to pass Law's guard now, I'm sure.

Law uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Colett is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Law can do to turn this around?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A looping hook to the body misses from Law. Colett does a little dance to reset his feet.
Colett went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Colett tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Law counters with a shoot takedown. Colett fights it but they end up in guard.

Colett has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Law can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Law trying to control the position from guard on top but Colett is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Colett is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Colett controls Law momentarily but Law frees himself.

Colett's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Colett throws a good cross that connects.
Colett is looking to clinch but Law is avoiding it.
Law on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

Colett takes the fight into the clinch.
Colett lands an uppercut.
Colett has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Law avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Law jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Colett walks away with a smile on his face. Law gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Law changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Colett tries to avoid it but Law manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Colett to the ground. Colett escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Colett wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Colett scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Colett closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Colett is trying to pull guard but Law turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Colett is looking to take this one to the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rhett Colett. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Colett tightens his grip and picks Law up, before dumping him to the ground. Law manages to land in guard.
Evan Law has got the better of the ground game so far.
Colett looking to sit in guard and control but Law gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Colett wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Law manages to pass to side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Law controlling the action here.
Rhett Colett is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Law's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Colett, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
