This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 1 losses; Kyung Quyen! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 0 losses; Dragan Gracie! The judges for this bout are James Glass, Daniel Bishop and Paul Tew.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Quyen fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Quyen tries to close the distance and clinch but Gracie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Quyen tries to clinch there but Gracie circles away.
Quyen tries to clinch but Gracie is having none of it. Gracie shoots in and bounces Quyen off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Quyen (0) vs (2) Gracie Gracie content to stall in guard here. Gracie trying to move into half guard but instead Quyen has managed to sweep! Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Quyen (2) vs (2) Gracie We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Quyen wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving. Gracie wants to sweep but no luck. Quyen looking to pass the guard. Gracie really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Quyen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Quyen is pushing down on Gracie's leg trying to pass to half guard. Gracie is fighting to maintain full guard but Quyen has managed to sneak the leg through. Gracie tries to get to full guard but Quyen has control of the leg. Gracie is not content to let Quyen control the position. Quyen is working for a kimura but Gracie is defending it quite comfortably.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Quyen is keen to just control but Gracie is a slippery customer. Gracie moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Quyen wants to pass the guard but Gracie is keeping the position. Gracie had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Quyen defends it easily. Quyen trying to control the position from guard on top but Gracie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Quyen looking to sit in guard and control but Gracie gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Quyen (2) vs (4) Gracie Quyen not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Quyen working for submissions but it's allowed Gracie to get to half guard.

Quyen makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Quyen. Gracie got a little sloppy there for a moment and Quyen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gracie has managed to get both his arms back between Quyen's legs - danger averted. Gracie is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Quyen working a defensive guard here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Quyen has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Gracie has passed into side control.
Score +3 for passing guard: Quyen (2) vs (7) Gracie The referee asks Gracie politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Gracie prefers to stall for the moment though. Quyen is not content to let Gracie control the position. Quyen regains half guard. Quyen wants to get back to full guard. Quyen is working hard here to advance position. Gracie not doing much here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Quyen trying to control but Gracie postures up.
Quyen tries to get to full guard but Gracie has control of the leg. Quyen makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Quyen. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Quyen is on top in guard.

That's six minutes gone in the round. Gracie looking to hit a scissor sweep but Quyen is one step ahead there. Gracie keeping moving, preventing Quyen from controlling successfully. Gracie throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Quyen wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Gracie is trying to keep Quyen in close.
Quyen pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gracie is keeping the position for now. Quyen trying to control but Gracie is working from the bottom. Quyen passes Gracie's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Quyen is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Gracie has managed to free his arm - good work. Quyen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gracie does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Quyen is pressing down on Gracie's thigh, looking to free his foot. Gracie is holding on for now. Quyen is working for a submission of some sort.
Gracie is concentrating on defense, preventing Quyen from advancing position. Quyen wants to pass to mount but Gracie is defending the position. Gracie looking for submissions off his back. Quyen wants to take a breather but Gracie is having none of it.

Gracie tries to get to full guard but Quyen has control of the leg. Quyen tries to pass the half guard into mount. Gracie knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Quyen works his way into side control. Score +3 for passing guard: Quyen (7) vs (7) Gracie Quyen wants to control but Gracie is keeping him busy.
That's ten minutes gone in the round. Quyen is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Gracie is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Quyen is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gracie knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Quyen is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Gracie looks calm but he's in trouble here. Quyen gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Gracie is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Quyen lets go of the hold and Gracie can pop his arm back in it's socket.
