PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thiago Cane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Adrian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cane comes to the cage accompanied by Ghost. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Thiago Cane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mark Adrian!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Chad Campbell and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cane throws a right and a left that Adrian avoids nicely.
Cane throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Adrian's head.
Adrian avoids a punch combination nicely.
Cane misses with the combination.
Cane misses with a head kick.
A jab-cross combination lands for Cane and sends Adrian crashing to the mat! Cane follows him down to the mat - Adrian regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!


Adrian is rocked!


It looks like Mark Adrian has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cane tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Adrian.
Adrian is still in real trouble! Can Cane finish him?
Cane is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Cane stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Adrian to get to his feet.
Adrian seems to have recovered his senses.

Adrian drives through and clinches with Cane against the cage.

Cane misses with a knee strike.
Adrian jumps guard but Cane stands there with Adrian around his waist. Adrian gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Cane prevents the takedown attempt.
Cane stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Adrian wants a takedown.
Thiago Cane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Adrian.
Cane with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Cane lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Adrian has Cane pressed against the cage, preventing Cane from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Cane breaks from the clinch.
Cane clinches but Adrian breaks the clinch

and Adrian counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Cane is breathing heavily.
Cane wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Adrian manages to pass to side control.

Cane knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Adrian on the ground.

Adrian with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Cane tries to kick Adrian off but Adrian keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Cane wants to control but Adrian is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Adrian lands strikes from half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Adrian seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Adrian is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Cane has managed to free his arm - good work.
Adrian thows a huge punch but Cane dodges it nicely.

Adrian is looking to take a break and control but Cane is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Well, if Adrian is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Adrian thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Cane has one foot on Adrian's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Cane throws out a leg kick but Adrian moves out of range and Cane only half commits.
Cane tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Cane scores with a head kick.

Adrian throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cane was covering up waiting for the punch and Adrian finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Cane can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Adrian controls the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Adrian drops back looking for a leg! Cane is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cane manages to kick Adrian off! Adrian jumps back into Cane's guard.
Cane can't keep his opponent in guard - Adrian advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Adrian throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cane wants to improve his position but Adrian is controlling well.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Thiago Cane will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Mark Adrian's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Adrian looks for a takedown but Cane sprawls well.
Thiago Cane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cane goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Adrian misses with a wild body shot.
Cane tries to close the distance and clinch up but Adrian swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Cane fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Adrian.
Cane throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Adrian.

Adrian shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Cane napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Adrian has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Cane is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Adrian has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Adrian works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Cane on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Adrian lands some shots froms side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cane is pushing Adrian's head away, looking to escape. Adrian manages to hold on to the position though.
Cane takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Adrian takes a little break here. Cane wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Adrian wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Cane, who protects the arm well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Adrian in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Cane is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Mark Adrian!
