Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Philip Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, CJ Jonesy!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Franklyn Lucas and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jonesy scores with a nice right hand.
Jonesy throws a low kick but it's checked well by Jones.
Jones throws out a loose jab but Jonesy uses good head movement to avoid it.
Jones staying out of range there.
Jonesy swinging wilding here.
Jonesy lands a with a good body shot.
Jonesy walks into a jab.
Jones will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Jones decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jonesy's guard.

Jonesy throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Jones escapes and throws Jonesy's legs to the side, diving into side control!

CJ Jonesy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jonesy slaps away a takedown attempt from Jones, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Jonesy throws a leg kick but Jones checks it.

Jones fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jonesy manages to avoid it.
Jonesy cracks Jones with a right hand to the side of the head.
Jones throws a body punch but Jonesy moves out of range.

Jones bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Jonesy stops Jones from passing to mount.
You can see the frustration on Jonesy's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Jonesy wants to get back to his feet but Jones is dominant here and he's now got Jonesy's back!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Jones is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Jonesy is defending well though. Jones let's go of the attempt for now.

Jonesy throws a right hand that Jones ducks under and follows up with a left that Jones also avoids with ease.
Jonesy throws a hook to the side of Jones's head but Jones sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Jonesy misses with a low kick as Jones jumps back.
Jonesy gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Jones rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jonesy moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Jonesy throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jones's waist but Jones gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jonesy off to one side.

Some wild striking there from Jones.
Jones throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Jonesy counters with a three punch combo that has Jones backing up. Jones nods at Jonesy to acknowledge the strikes.
Jonesy lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
No joy there for Jonesy, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Jones.
Jonesy managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Jones.
Jonesy wants to control but Jones postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jonesy wants to get back to his feet.

Jones tries to advance position but instead Jonesy slips a leg back in to half guard.
Jonesy is refusing to be controlled, as Jones sits in half guard.
Jonesy is trying to stand.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Jonesy moves into range and clinches up with Jones.
Jonesy is looking to break free of the clinch but Jones has double underhooks.
Jones tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Jones wants to break free but Jonesy has control.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jonesy looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
Philip Jones is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Jonesy is trying escape back to his feet. He turns into his opponent's guard and eventually finds his way back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

CJ Jonesy has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jones thuds his right hand into Jonesy's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jones, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
