Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dimon Boets (ranked 2479 p4p, 1747 weight class) and Bennett Peck (ranked 278 p4p, 57 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boets scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Boets lands a jab-cross combination.
Boets tests Peck's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Peck uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Boets.
Boets swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Peck counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Peck.
Peck misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Peck tries to score a body lock takedown but Boets shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Boets is breathing heavily.
Boets wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Peck has him pressed against the cage.
Peck lands a shot to the body.
Peck lands a right hand that snaps the head of Boets backwards.
Peck lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Boets or not.

I was talking to Boets's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Peck lands a shot to the body.
Boets misses with a body punch.

Peck is working for takedown but Boets is calmly controlling the position for now.

We've been informed that Peck has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Peck stands up over Boets, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Peck stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Boets swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Peck is looking to work some ground and pound but Boets has wrist control.
Peck slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Peck stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Boets has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Peck manages to get his head free but now Boets has transitioned to an armbar! Peck grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Boets! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
