Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Diego Carpio (ranked 3107 p4p, 2910 weight class) and Josue Luna (ranked 313 p4p, 287 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Diego Carpio! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Josue Luna! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Phil Schofield and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A solid body kick from Carpio. Luna shoots in and gets a takedown into Carpio's guard. Carpio wants to stand and escape but Luna is having none of it. Luna throwing strikes from guard but Carpio blocks nicely. Luna throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Luna slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Luna postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Luna controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Carpio wants to get back to his feet but Luna is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Luna makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Luna pushes down on Carpio's leg and manages to get into half guard. Luna is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Carpio is trying to stand.
Luna works his way into full mount! Luna lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Luna is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Carpio to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Carpio shrugs it off. Luna punching from mount but Carpio doing a good job of avoiding damage. Carpio is squirming around, avoiding Luna's attempts to control the action. Luna has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Luna is in the full mount, landing strikes. Luna lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Carpio knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Luna on the ground. The referee warns Carpio that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Luna controlling the pace for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carpio's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Luna scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Luna tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Carpio wants to try and get back to his feet. Luna controlling from the full mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Let's hope that Luna has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Josue Luna dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Carpio moves in looking to clinch but Luna pushes him off. Luna keeps the fight on the outside. Carpio moves into the clinch successfully.
Carpio misses with a knee to the head. Luna pulls guard. Luna escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Carpio gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Carpio scores with a decent looking elbow strike. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Luna seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Luna is continuing to stall. Carpio won't allow Luna to sweep him here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Luna thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Luna is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Luna escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Carpio gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Carpio wants to pass the guard but Luna is keeping the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Carpio wants to control from the top but Luna keeps moving. Josue Luna has got the better of the ground game so far. Luna had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Carpio defends it easily. Carpio trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Carpio postures up and lands a big shot to Luna's brow. Luna pulls Carpio in close to prevent any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carpio stands and steps away. Luna gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Luna misses with a wild body shot. Carpio moves in looking to clinch but Luna pushes him off. Carpio throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Luna on the side of the head. Luna tries to keep at a distance but Carpio has taken the fight into the clinch. Luna avoiding damage as Carpio throws knees to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Luna missing with knees to the body.
Luna jumps guard but Carpio turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Carpio taking a breather. Carpio is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Luna is keeping busy. Luna has Carpio pushed against the cage. Luna is trying to pull guard but Carpio turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Carpio lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Luna or not. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Carpio creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Carpio takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Carpio has Luna pressed against the cage.
Carpio throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Luna blocks it with crossed arms. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Diego Carpio dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round! Luna tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Carpio swivels and escapes. Carpio moves into range and connects with a jab. Carpio moves into the clinch successfully.
Carpio scores with a shoulder strike. Carpio can't find room to land a body shot as Luna controls the action.

Luna gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Carpio regains guard.
Carpio wants to get back to his feet but Luna is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Luna thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Carpio wants to stand but Luna is controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Luna is pushing down on Carpio's leg trying to pass to half guard. Carpio is fighting to maintain full guard but Luna has managed to sneak the leg through. Carpio has hold of Luna's hands but Luna slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Luna trying to pass the guard but Carpio defending well. Luna seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Carpio does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Luna controlling the action here. Carpio wants to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Luna in particular looking to stall. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Luna looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Carpio is fending him off so far but Luna persists. Nope, Carpio circles away and we're back to standing. Carpio lands a left and a right that send Luna crashing to the mat, dazed. Carpio thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Luna is rocked! Luna takes a shot right to the bread basket. Luna is still on wobbly legs! Can Carpio finish him? Carpio takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Luna seems to have recovered his senses. Luna darts in looking for a takedown but Carpio gets double underhooks and turns Luna into the cage. Diego Carpio has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Josue Luna. Carpio digs a good body shot into Luna's ribs. Luna takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Carpio gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. The referee calls for Carpio to work.
Luna decides to pull guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carpio pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Luna is keeping the position for now. Luna looking for a sweep. Not yet Luna, not yet. Carpio stops Luna from standing up. Luna is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Luna had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Carpio defends it easily. Luna is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Luna scrambles and gets back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight! Diego Carpio showed his dominance in that final round. I think Carpio has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
