Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Finley Cowan (ranked 2622 p4p, 3485 weight class) and Danny Rivera (ranked 272 p4p, 340 weight class). Danny Rivera is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 1, fighting out of London, Finley Cowan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Danny Rivera!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Ron Honeybunn and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cowan displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rivera.

Cowan looks up at the clock and then as Rivera takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Cowan smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cowan lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Cowan creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Rivera sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Rivera tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cowan wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Cowan cracks Rivera with a big right hand but Rivera just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rivera can do anything to dispel that myth.

Rivera is rocked!
Cowan remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Rivera tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Cowan defends well and Rivera ends up having to push Cowan into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Rivera throws the left hand but Cowan avoids the punch easily.

Cowan seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rivera wants to improve his position but Cowan is controlling well.

Rivera really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cowan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Cowan lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Rivera quite badly. Rivera pulls Cowan in close trying to recover. Cowan postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Rivera on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Rivera doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Finley Cowan!
