Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Kaden Stephens! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ross Kay! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Steve Montenegro and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kay closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Stephens manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Kay scoring with punches to the head and body. Kay scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Kay with a nice head shot there. Stephens looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Kay landing some decent shots from guard. Stephens trying to keep a closed guard but Kay is proving a slippery customer.
Kay avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Kay scores with a decent looking elbow strike. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kay lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Stephens looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Kay stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stephens swivels though and keeps the full guard. Stephens tries to land a sweep but no joy. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Kay wants to control from the top but Stephens keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kay with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Kay works over Stephens with some ground and pound from guard. Kay scoring with punches to the head and body. Stephens working a defensive guard here.
Stephens looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Kay lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Stephens throws his legs up looking for a submission but Kay uses it to pass to side control.
My spies in Grapple inform me that Kay has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Kay looks up at the clock and then as Stephens takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Kay smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Stephens tries to buck Kay off but Kay is having none of it. Kay in side control lands a decent elbow. Kay trying to control the action but Stephens is working from the bottom. Kay advances to mount. Stephens is desperately trying to improve his position but Kay has a good base and remains in mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kay trying to control but he's not successful this time. Kay unloading with bombs! Kay lands a big shot there that rocks Stephens but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Stephens is bucking up trying to escape but Kay cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Stephens is rocked! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kay postures up and throws a big right hand. BOOM! Right on the button! Stephens is out cold - huge knockout for Kay!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Ross Kay! Post fight, Ross Kay stared into the camera and said 'I just wanted to make this person suffer.'.
