This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 1 losses; Dragan Gracie! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 3 losses; Ichiroshi Maeda!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Atkins and Colin Fotheringham.


Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious?

Gracie shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Maeda napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Maeda can't do much from the bottom here.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Maeda manages to work his way to half guard, despite Gracie's best efforts.
Maeda is trying to get back to full guard.
Well, if Gracie is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Maeda wants to improve his position but Gracie is controlling well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Maeda looking for submissions off his back.
Still in half guard, Gracie seems content to control.
Maeda tries to roll over but Gracie keeps him under control.
Maeda keeps trying to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Maeda won't allow Gracie to pass to mount.
Maeda is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Maeda is trying to maintain the position but Gracie is very close to passing his half guard.

Maeda is looking to improve his position.
Gracie tries to pass to full mount but Maeda defends it.
Maeda makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Maeda.

Gracie is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Maeda holds on and takes a little breather.

Gracie seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Maeda is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gracie defends well.
Gracie works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Maeda is looking for a sweep. Gracie is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Gracie looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Maeda keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Maeda tries to reverse the position but Gracie maintains control.

Maeda is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Maeda tries to lock up and control but Gracie gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Maeda is working to get back to half guard.
Gracie trying to control but Maeda is having none of it.
Maeda tries to hold on but Gracie postures up.

Maeda is trying to reverse the position but instead Gracie has taken his back - oops!

Maeda wants to escape the position.
Maeda turns into Gracie and is now in his guard.

Maeda drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Maeda jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Gracie controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Maeda is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gracie defends well.
Gracie sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Maeda's guard.

Maeda wants to get back to full guard but Gracie has passed into side control.

Maeda trying to remain calm as Gracie controls from the top position.

Maeda is not content to let Gracie control the position.
Maeda is looking for a sweep.
Gracie trying to control the position but Maeda is working away.

Gracie in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Maeda is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
