PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lee Murray (ranked 1087 p4p, 814 weight class) and Bart Detweiler (ranked 141 p4p, 105 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lee Murray !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bart Detweiler!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Glass and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murray lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

It looks like Bart Detweiler has been cut.
Detweiler on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Murray lands an overhand right.
A low kick from Detweiler is predictable there
and Murray counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Detweiler closes the distance but Murray moves to the side
and Murray counters with a straight right hand.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Detweiler lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Murray has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Murray and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Detweiler just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromMurray .

It looks like Lee Murray has been cut.
Detweiler fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Murray avoids it really well and circles away.
Murray is looking to counter punch.

Murray misses with an attempted mid kick.
Murray jabs at Detweiler's body.
Murray cracks Detweiler with a right hand to the side of the head.
Murray throws a head kick but Detweiler moves out of range.
Detweiler punishes Murray 's body with a nice straight punch.
Detweiler misses with a hook
and Murray counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Detweiler lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Detweiler has Murray up against the cage in a clinch.
Murray leaning his opponent against the cage.
Murray is trying to force a seperation but Detweiler has the dominant position.
Detweiler is looking to take this one to the mat.
Murray displaying some good clinch control by pressing Detweiler up against the cage.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Murray .
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Detweiler wants a takedown but no success here.
Lee Murray has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bart Detweiler.

Murray 's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Murray lands a head kick. Detweiler smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Murray keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Detweiler misses with a takedown
and Murray counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Murray slips under a jab.

Detweiler bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Detweiler looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Murray is avoiding damage well.
Detweiler throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
An elbow from Detweiler crashes against the mat.

Detweiler working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Murray is looking for a sweep.
Detweiler in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Detweiler looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Murray is avoiding damage well.
Detweiler has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Detweiler wants to lay and pray for a moment but Murray keeps working.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The strikes coming from Detweiler are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Murray is not content to let Detweiler control the position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Lee Murray dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Detweiler lands a nice shot that snaps Murray 's head back.
Detweiler tries to close the distance and clinch but Murray swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Murray was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Murray looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Murray takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Murray gets caught napping as Detweiler dives in and scores a takedown. Murray manages to retain guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Detweiler drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Murray dives on top into guard.

Murray has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Murray stays in close to Detweiler's body and controls the position.

Detweiler is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Detweiler is controlling Murray 's posture.
Detweiler is trying to keep Murray in close.
Murray won't allow Detweiler to sweep him here.
Murray wants to pass the guard but Detweiler is keeping the position.
Murray controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Detweiler is trying to control the position but Murray postures up.

Detweiler has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Murray doesn't defend quickly enough and Detweiler has managed to lock this one up! Can Murray escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Detweiler on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Bart Detweiler!
After winning the bout, Bart Detweiler thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
