Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 32 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Romulus Gerber!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Steve Montenegro and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wieland shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Wieland postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Gerber is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Gerber has momentary wrist control but Wieland slips an elbow through the middle.

Gerber wants to sweep here but Wieland controlling him for the moment.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wieland accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Gerber had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Wieland defends it easily.

Gerber can't keep his opponent in guard - Wieland advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wieland tries to pass to full mount but Gerber defends it.
Wieland looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Wieland is trying to control the action in half guard but Gerber is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Gerber looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Wieland winds up and cracks Gerber with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Wieland not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Wieland looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gerber with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Wieland is trying to work for a kimura but Gerber is defending well.
Wieland has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Gerber takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Wieland is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Gerber can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
