Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lucas Barreto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and vinny souza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lucas Barreto looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Matheus Silva and Daniel Cesar.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
souza throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Barreto's waist but Barreto gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing souza off to one side.

souza closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Barreto to the mat! Barreto manages to get full guard.

souza drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and souza jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

souza postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Barreto is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of souza, into his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Barreto thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

souza had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Barreto is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. souza Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Barreto's back instead.
souza looks gassed!

souza is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Barreto knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Barreto for a finish.

souza doesn't have the hooks in and Barreto manages to turn into his guard.

Barreto postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! souza is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Barreto, into his guard.
Barreto wants to sweep but no luck.

souza drops back looking for a leg! Barreto is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Barreto manages to kick souza off! souza jumps back into Barreto's guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
souza wants to control from the top but Barreto keeps moving.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

souza drops back, looking for a kneebar! Barreto looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Barreto looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Barreto!
Barreto creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
souza on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
souza is trying to get back to half guard.

Barreto has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for souza!
souza tries to reverse the position but Barreto maintains control.
Barreto blocks souza's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

Barreto is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. souza can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

souza tries to lock up and control but Barreto gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
souza is in a horrible position here. Barreto smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
souza is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Barreto lands with some strikes.
souza keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Barreto avoids the attempt from souza to control.

That was a close round but I would say that Lucas Barreto will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

souza drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Barreto manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now souza has Barreto in his guard.

souza working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Barreto doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Barreto manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

vinny souza showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Barreto is looking to advance position but souza won't allow it.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Lucas Barreto overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Barreto is thwarting souza's attempts to control the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
souza has Barreto pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Barreto manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Come on souza - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Barreto keeps control of souza as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
