PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ezikiel Construction Noise (ranked 5562 p4p, 25078 weight class) and Derek Rodney (ranked 517 p4p, 569 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Construction Noise.
Construction Noise is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Construction Noise has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Rodney tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Construction Noise moves to the back position.

Construction Noise is looking for the choke from the back position but Rodney is controlling his hands well.
Construction Noise just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Rodney trying to control the action but Construction Noise just sinks the hooks in.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Construction Noise is riding his opponent, not letting Rodney buck him off.

Construction Noise's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Construction Noise really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Rodney.
Construction Noise seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Rodney for as long as he can get away with.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Construction Noise has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Rodney is trying to break free.
Rodney is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Construction Noise has the hooks in. Rodney is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Construction Noise really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Rodney.

That's time! Construction Noise's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Rodney throws a hook to the side of Construction Noise's head but Construction Noise sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Construction Noise shoots in for a takedown but Rodney shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

and Rodney counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Construction Noise takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Rodney tries to bum rush Construction Noise with a series of wild strikes but Construction Noise uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Construction Noise looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Construction Noise shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rodney sprawls well. Rodney wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Construction Noise gets slowly back to his feet.
Rodney doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.

Rodney throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

and Rodney counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Construction Noise thinking.
Ezikiel Construction Noise seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rodney stuffs the takedown.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Oooooh!!! Rodney has knocked Construction Noise down with a huge combo! Rodney steps away and waves a wobbly Construction Noise back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

It looks like Ezikiel Construction Noise has been cut.

Construction Noise gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Rodney counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Oh Construction Noise is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Rodney walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Construction Noise drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Rodney swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Construction Noise's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
