PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Colby Koscheck (ranked 4995 p4p, 5360 weight class) and Albar Claes (ranked 409 p4p, 424 weight class). Albar Claes told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Albar Claes!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Chris Saunders and Colin Fray.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Claes walks into a left hand.
Claes looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Nice jab there from Koscheck.
Claes lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Koscheck showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Claes.
Koscheck connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Claes momentarily.
Claes takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Koscheck shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Claes but Claes pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Claes throws a counter combo.
Koscheck fails to land with a series of punches.
Koscheck throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Koscheck thuds a left hand into Claes's body.
Koscheck jabs Claes to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Koscheck shoots in for a takedown but Claes shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Claes is looking to clinch.

Koscheck throws a jab when Claes was well out of range.
Koscheck throws a right and a left that Claes avoids nicely.

Koscheck ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Claes moves away.
Albar Claes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Koscheck dives in and grabs Claes's left leg, looking for a takedown. Claes pushes down on Koscheck's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Colby Koscheck. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Koscheck throws a lazy right hand but Claes sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Claes uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Koscheck.
Claes throws a fast counter high kick but Koscheck manages to duck under it in time.

Claes shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Koscheck napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Koscheck is trying to control Claes's posture but Claes avoids it.
Koscheck gets back to half guard.

Koscheck pushes a forearm under Claes's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Claes is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
