Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Emmanuel Sherdog! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kalevi Maki! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maki throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Sherdog looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Maki looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
We've been hearing reports that Sherdog has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Maki displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sherdog. Sherdog is looking for a takedown here. Sherdog will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Sherdog lands a nice shot to the head. BOOM! Sherdog connects with a massive shot to the dome!
