PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randall Dean (ranked 1793 p4p, 2072 weight class) and Gregor Frieberg (ranked 232 p4p, 260 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Gregor Frieberg was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Randall Dean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gregor Frieberg!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Eddie Farnsworth and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dean lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Dean jabs Frieberg to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Frieberg has his takedown stuffed
and Frieberg takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Frieberg gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Frieberg has closed the distance and engaged Dean in a clinch.

Frieberg manages to break the clinch.
We've been told by Dean's head coaches at Point Blanc that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Dean darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Frieberg is rocked!
Frieberg looks for a takedown but Dean sprawls well.
Nice sprawl there from Dean as Frieberg shoots in.
Randall Dean has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gregor Frieberg.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Frieberg throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dean's waist but Dean gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Frieberg off to one side.

Dean drops Frieberg with a beautiful combination! Frieberg stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Dean is looking for the KO!
Frieberg is still on wobbly legs! Can Dean finish him?
Dean throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Randall Dean seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dean lands a nice leg kick that just misses Frieberg's sensitive parts.
Frieberg seems to have recovered his senses.
Nice body punch from Dean.
Frieberg dives in and grabs Dean's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dean pushes down on Frieberg's head and hops out.
Dean throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Dean looks to score with a jab to the body but Frieberg is just out of range.
Dean lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Frieberg tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dean swivels and escapes.
Dean stuffs the takedown attempt from Frieberg. Frieberg gets slowly back to his feet.
Dean stuffs the takedown.
Frieberg shoots in for a takedown but Dean shows good takedown defense.
Frieberg shoots in for a takedown but Dean shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Dean connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Good exchange - Dean coming out on top.
Frieberg has a takedown stuffed.
Frieberg looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Dean sends Frieberg crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Dean is motioning to the referee to let Frieberg up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Dean feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Frieberg sprawling to the canvas! Frieberg rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Dean finish him?!
Dean closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Frieberg out cold! Frieberg corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Randall Dean!
After winning the bout, Randall Dean thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
