Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Yanick Thompson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, James Sureshot! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, David Schapiro and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thompson moves into the clinch successfully.
Sureshot drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Nice body punch from Thompson. Sureshot pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Thompson instigates a clinch. Sureshot fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Sureshot's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Thompson tries to clinch up and Sureshot connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Thompson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sureshot.
Thompson gets in close and instigates a clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sureshot tries to land knees in the clinch but Thompson avoids the damage to the body. Thompson gets through Sureshot's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Thompson manages to break the clinch.
Yanick Thompson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Thompson has closed the distance and engaged Sureshot in a clinch.
Sureshot softening up his opponent with strikes, against the ropes. Thompson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Thompson clinches with his opponent.
Thompson throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Sureshots head. Sureshot tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Sureshot breaks from the clinch.
Sureshot connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Thompson is rocked! Thompson tries to clinch but Sureshot moves away and Sureshot counters with a big left hand that crumples Thompson! He was out before he hit the floor! Brutal knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). James Sureshot!
