This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 4 losses; Ichiroshi Maeda! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 2 losses; Roberto Lara!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Daniel Bishop and Paul Tew.

Maeda drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Maeda goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Lara has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Maeda but great work by Lara.

Lara wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Maeda, who protects the arm well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lara goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Maeda rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Lara's guard! Nice work there by Maeda!

Lara is looking for a sweep. Maeda is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Maeda is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Maeda is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Lara is just riding it out for now. Maeda eventually gives up the hold.
Lara has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Maeda is working away from the top position though.

Maeda isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Lara stacks Maeda on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Lara!
