This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 5 losses; Sammy Carrillo! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 1 losses; Rhaegar Gracie! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Sam Margolis and William Gold.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Carrillo shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gracie is trying to defend but Carrillo finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Carrillo (2) vs (0) Gracie Gracie keeping control of the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carrillo wants to pass to mount but Gracie is defending the position. Carrillo is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Gracie is controlling Carrillo's trapped leg to prevent Carrillo from advancing to side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carrillo is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracie sitting in guard, not really doing much. Gracie sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Carrillo's guard. Carrillo wants to improve his position but Gracie is controlling well.
Carrillo works his way to full guard. Good work. Gracie engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. It looks like Gracie might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Carrillo swings around for an armbar but Gracie sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Carrillo's guard. Gracie escapes and throws Carrillo's legs to the side, diving into side control! Gracie laying and praying for a moment but Carrillo takes advantage and regains half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Carrillo manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Gracie seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Carrillo tries to land a sweep but no joy. Gracie looking to pass the guard. Gracie is pushing down on Carrillo's leg trying to pass to half guard. Carrillo is fighting to maintain full guard but Gracie has managed to sneak the leg through. Carrillo wants to control but Gracie is keeping busy.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Carrillo is looking for a sweep. Gracie is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Gracie looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Carrillo wants to control the action here but instead Gracie manages to pass to full mount! Score +3 for passing guard: Carrillo (13) vs (10) Gracie Gracie sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Carrillo is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Gracie takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Gracie avoids the attempt from Carrillo to control. Gracie controlling from mount. Carrillo tries to hold on but Gracie postures up.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Gracie controlling his opponent. Carrillo is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Carrillo manages to regain half guard. Good work. Carrillo slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Gracie looking to pass the guard. Carrillo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gracie manages to get himself to full guard.

Gracie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carrillo swivels though and keeps the full guard. Carrillo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Gracie slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Carrillo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gracie defends well. Carrillo isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Gracie stacks Carrillo on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Carrillo's shoulder. That is not cool. Carrillo manages to work his way to half guard, despite Gracie's best efforts. Carrillo tries to get to full guard but Gracie has control of the leg. Well, if Gracie is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Carrillo actively working from the bottom here. Gracie content to control rather than advance. Carrillo is in trouble now - Gracie has advanced to mount!
