PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rickson Caceres (ranked 807 p4p, 464 weight class) and Terry Silver (ranked 112 p4p, 63 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rickson Caceres!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Terry Silver!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paulsen Ambrosius and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Caceres shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Silver sprawls well. Silver wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Caceres gets slowly back to his feet.
As Caceres backs off Silver throws a huge counter combo but Caceres manages to avoid it all.
A jab from Silver finds it's way through Caceres's defenses.
Caceres takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Caceres uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Silver.
Silver misses with a leg kick.
No joy there for Silver, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Silver gets off balance looking for a body kick

and Caceres counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silver is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Caceres is controlling him.
Silver is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Silver wants to sweep here but Caceres controlling him for the moment.
Silver pulls Caceres in to control the position.
Caceres stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Silver swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Silver tries to land a sweep but no joy.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Silver can do anything to dispel that myth.

Silver is trying to keep Caceres in close.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Silver lands with a hook. Caceres tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Silver looks to throw a body kick

and Caceres counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Caceres.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Silver is trying to keep Caceres in close.

Silver manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Caceres shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Silver manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Silver is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Caceres trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Silver wants to stand up but Caceres is controlling him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Silver looking to hit a scissor sweep but Caceres is one step ahead there.
Caceres is pushing down on Silver's leg trying to pass to half guard. Silver is fighting to maintain full guard but Caceres has managed to sneak the leg through.
Caceres trying to advance position but Silver counters by regaining guard.

Silver has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Caceres has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Silver's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Caceres slips a jab and a cross from Silver.
Caceres appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Caceres slips under a jab.
Caceres tries to counter with a takedown but Silver is quick to defend against it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Terry Silver dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Caceres shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Silver but Silver pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Silver throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Caceres half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Silver really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Caceres. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Silver wants to sweep here but Caceres controlling him for the moment.
Caceres has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Silver gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Silver felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Silver is bucking up trying to escape but Caceres cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Silver is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Caceres with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Silver tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Caceres fails to advance to Silver's back.
Caceres moves to the back position.
Caceres lands strikes to the head.
Silver trying to control the position but Caceres manages to sink in the hooks.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Caceres has managed to slip his arm under Silver's chin. This could be all over... yep, Silver is tapping out! Submission win for Caceres.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Rickson Caceres!
Rickson Caceres very nearly forgot to thank Furnace Performance 🔥 amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
